Community Performance Action
Co-Facilitated with Alexis Iammarino
Rockland, ME
June 10, 2018 | 11:30 am – 1:00 pm
Join interdisciplinary artist, Katie Kehoe, and Lead Educator, Alexis Iammarino, for a community engaged performance in the courtyard at the Center for Maine Contemporary Art (CMCA). The event is part of Kehoe’s current project, Provisions for Buoyancy, which consists of a series of performances carried out along the eastern seaboard to explore the projected impact of climate change and adaptive reuse of materials. The public is invited to participate and/or observe the performance.
The event at CMCA concludes Kehoe’s four-day residency and a roster of public events and engagements in Rockland, ME, hosted by Steel House, The Apprenticeshop, The Island Institute, and CMCA.
Kehoe conceived Provisions for Buoyancy as a series of performances/actions for which she wears a wetsuit and carries a body-board while walking for extended periods through areas that would be flooded if the sea level were to rise by six feet. Between May 26–June 15, 2018, she will be performing durational actions in each state and province situated along the east coast, beginning in Washington, DC and moving north along the coast to Halifax, Nova Scotia, CAN.
